To Dream

"A dream, a dream is a wish your heart makes," ~ Disney

Where did our childlike sense of wonder go? I for one still feel like a child most days, but in the way one desperately treads water in the sea, searching for any sign of land. A body which acts older than it is and a nervous system on constant high alert as if the "real world" is a threat; a threat to my peace or innocence or simply to my existence. I used to hold onto any speck of magic and wonderment like a personal beacon of light. I understand how we grow into more responsibilities and how the weight of world-wide struggles/perils could be burdensome, yet it doesn't need to always be so heavy to hold. We can still gaze upon this life with wonderment and marvel at the beauty within the simplest of things, for although we've grown, there is always magic to be found. The trick is to remember to look with a curious mind and an open heart. You may have realized by now, dear reader, that our childlike sense of wonder, or innocence, never left. No, we've only forgotten how to dream.
You see, a dream isn't a wish placed into the world; a dream is a wish made in our heart of hearts. We dream for ourselves, or for the world outside of ourselves, and we make this wish on ourselves for we are born from the stars. We are full of light, dreams, and ultimately, love. As children, it is easier to see the light when our eyes are always open wide, filled with wonderment and searching for the good. As adults, we've become confused, convinced that the light within dimmed as is customary of adulthood, yet again, the light did not fade; we have just been looking from afar. The light never left, we just need to believe in ourselves again, believe in our dreams and wishes, then it will all become clearer: you will see your light and feel the magic once again. This life is meant to be live fully, not to be a burden to bear till death do we part. I have not forgotten my dreams, but perhaps you have, if only for a moment. For you, dear reader, I hope you remember to believe in yourself and in the magic within and all around, for "a dream is a wish your heart makes."
